There's a big difference between "totally eliminated" and merely "watered down." See enquirer.com Complete elimination of the tax provides a huge yeild to his real constituency, the truly wealthy. What he's likely to get will only eliminate the big hit to the upper-middle class and family farms and businesses which is where the plea for relief strikes a chord across party lines.
