Books:
Hi SL,
Vanguard is the best in my view. I am a GG too. But I sold out of a lot of the GG stocks simply on valulation. The GG thread is my favorite on SI. MikeB, UF, tekboy, etc. -- they are all incredible personalities!
HerbG wrote some interesting articles on CREE (based on similar insights that took down LHSP). CSCO, MSFT, INTC, JDSU, NTAP, QCOM were priced for perfection. I'm too much of a capital preservationist to lose a lot of money on a stock holding. I believe in the same views as you though - albeit with risk limitations!
I used to love certain non-Vanguard funds (Fidelity Low-Price, Firsthand Funds, Bill Miller, etc.), but then I really took notice of the statistics and concepts in the following book:

I strongly believe, based in great part on Mr. Bogle's analysis, that index funds are an excellent component as part of an investor's mutual fund portfolio. It's a great book!
I just bought Mr. Bogle's latest last night (although it, apparently, is a collection of letters and speeches that he gave over the years):
