Softechie...it's not in my nature to create controversy, so I'm not looking for any.

But must admit that when you posted that you made money on GENU, I scratched my head and must ask "HOW?" Vividly remember your repeated (every few minutes) posts on another SI thread about this stock when it IPO'd. I don't see an opportunity to have gained from owning it while you were pumping it so hard.

And as for VZ being better than WCOM....well, VZ is trying to pick up long-distance biz while other telecoms are trying to unload it, and so far VZ only has permission to sell LD in New York, so its biz plan has a way to go.

VZ is my local phone provider as well as wireless provider, but I don't see them as special (altho I did think the dividends paid by this stock were good at one time.....however, now, VZ must join all other telecoms in going out on a limb financially to finance its business plan.

WCOM has some significant underlying assets if it needs money to stay alive. It practically owns the Internet infrastructure.

I don't own WCOM at the moment. Have been burned by it many times after making much money off it before. Only lucky thing I've done in stock market lately was take advantage of a WCOM rally and sell out at $18.25 about a week ago, after buying at $18 and seeing it hit as low as 15. Made a whopping $4.95 profit on that trade----glad I did, as it then went to 14!!!

Still wondering how you made money on GENU....and why you think VZ is better than WCOM????? Educate me, please.
