Hartcourt Subsidiary and Davnet Limited Form Alliance to Sell Video Streaming Broadcast Solutions in Asia December 27, 2000 09:00:00 AM ET
Leading Internet Broadcasting Provider StreamingAsia Ltd. Targets Business Users in Hong Kong and Singapore
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- The Hartcourt Companies Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: HRCT; Frankfurt: HCT), www.hartcourt.com, an investment and development company focused on Internet infrastructure and content delivery, today announced that its Hong Kong-based subsidiary, StreamingAsia Limited, has formed a strategic alliance with Davnet Limited, the leading international provider of IP (Internet Protocol)-based network solutions, that will allow business users in Hong Kong and Singapore to create and use their own video streaming solutions.
StreamingAsia products powered by Davnet's high-speed, broadband telecommunications services will enable business users to enjoy the efficiencies and increased productivity of real-time and pre-recorded multipoint multimedia broadcasting over the Internet.
"With video streaming, organizations and companies can incorporate video commentaries on their web sites, demonstrate products, train their staff, deliver major presentations, hold interactive meetings -- all delivered through the Internet," said Mr. Eric Chan, Managing Director of Davnet Asia.
Mr. Robert H. Turner, Group Chief Operating Officer of Davnet Limited stated, "This alliance with StreamingAsia demonstrates how value-added partners can work together to deliver the full power of multimedia to corporate users over our 100 per cent IP-based packet switch network."
Under the terms of the agreement, Davnet is to provide sales and marketing resources, hardware requirements, operating systems, storage capacity for video hosting, and Internet connectivity to StreamingAsia. Demonstration rooms in Davnet's Hong Kong and Singapore offices will display StreamingAsia products, including its flagship "MyPowerStream" software.
"MyPowerStream" is a simple, easy-to-use software that lets users create their own video broadcasts rather than having to send materials to third parties to create and host. A key feature of the software is its ability to synchronize a speaker with a separate PowerPoint presentation with the video images appearing in one part of the screen and the presentation materials on another.
Davnet will customize and market "MyPowerStream" software. Clients can post their pre-recorded video broadcasts on Davnet's servers or on their own servers for downloading when necessary.
Unlike video-on-demand and streaming TV by media broadcasters, video streaming allows any business, regardless of size, to be an active multimedia participant on the Internet.
The Hartcourt Companies, Inc., which owns 50% of StreamingAsia Limited, announced on September 21, 2000 that it has signed an underwriting agreement to bring StreamingAsia public through an Initial Public Offering.
