Example of above: TP owes $5,000 on Form 1040 at filing on April 15th due to...let's say capital gains. Doesn't have $5,000. Sets up 12 mo. payment agreement and defaults. So IRS decides to apply levy to wages. Service has to screw around with new expanded federal requirement to obtain court judgement and order to begin levy process in accordance with "due process." This takes how long? Weeks, months? before employer deducts and transfers first payment. All the while interest on balance due ticks away. I don't see how this helps a TP.

...There is really no statute of limitations which applies to assessments, penalties, or interest...I know of people who have received notices of deficiencies some ten years after the return had been filed. And I am not speaking of fraudulent taxpayers, either.

I'd like to know the details. It can happen. Did it involve an amended return with a "look back" issue? Personal or business return?

The IRS is a nazi organization within our government. Our forefathers would be rolling over in their graves if they knew how we have tortured our constitution to give legitemacy to the existence and practices of the IRS.

Yeah, yeah...tell it to your congressman. I'm sure he/she would love to hear about it.
