Hi ak - still trying to find the worst in human beings in this cheerful holiday season :)! Since I don't know VARL mgt and the behind the scene decision, I don't know if your theory is true or not. However, there are 2 alternative yet plausible explanations w/o invoking any conspiracy principle. They are 1) the books were indeed too bad that they simply can't figure it out and 2) Mr Pappas & crew are determined to eject all the dirty laundry in one fell scoop. If they can do it retroactively, why not. Of course, these 2 scenarios are equally wishful thinking, but I favor the 2nd, which is not unlike how a new CEO in every turn around situation would behave by writing off everything imaginable under the sun in an attempt to garner a fresh start best, Bosco
