Jane: Parenting in the year 2000:
I ordered most of my son's toys on-line as I thought this was the efficient was to go. I had to got to the Mall Friday night, so I took him with me. For the first time I did not go into his favorite toy store, because after e-mailing and calling several times, I was told that his gifts would arrive on Saturday. I also called Fed Ex and was pro-active about this. I checked and double-checked. Saturday afternoon, his gifts were not here and Fed Ex called me, saying that I would receive them on Tuesday. Sunday, I went to 2 different Toys R Us locations, 2 different Target locations, Wall-Mart, the Disney Store and other toy stores, outside of going to the Mall. I found a couple of the things that he asked for, but the majority of it was not available. He still had a great Christmas and I am thankful for Grandparents, because he had enough gifts to keep him busy. Tuesday, I found the other things he asked for at the Mall. I had passed that store many times on Friday. I bought what he asked for. After having opened all of the gifts from Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins, he said last night, "Thank you! These are my favorite toys!"
Lessons Learned: Next year I am starting earlier. By the way, I ordered a present for my Sister on Amazon.com. They were very efficient! |
