Prophet,

re: Amazon.com

I got the same e-mail!

Greetings from Amazon.com.

We've recently learned from our supplier that the item you requested to be
notified about, SanDisk SDCFB-64-455 64MB Compact Flash, will not be
available in the foreseeable future.

I also clicked on the "inform me when available" radio button
on their site and was happily surprised when I got this message.
SanDisk announced in the Fall of 1999 that Amazon would be an e-tail
connection for them and I find it hard to believe they would break
that relationship yet still have the entire SanDisk product line
available this year. SanDisk is the only major label that still
has product available on the site.

I noticed that Viking has advertised heavily on Amazon.com with
their product coming as the first hit when you cross reference
"compactflash" or other media. The "Flash Media Finder" on Amazon
that tells you what flash cards are compatible with your camera
is supported by Viking and all "hits" refer you to their product
inventories on Amazon. This tells me that brand identity is still
quite important and that Viking sees CF and SmartMedia as profit
centers for its rather extensive memory business.

I would love to see Viking, Simple and Kingston listed as licensees
on the next 10Q.

I would be in heaven.
