HELP!!!

What am I missing???

What would prevent LOR and/or QCOM from buying G* debt? It seems to me that the issue driving BK talk is that there will not be money for debt service, as opposed to the system not working. Granted there are not enough customers, but this seems more like a marketing problem right now. If LOR // QCOM were to buy G* debt, could they swap the acquired debt for more equity, there by saving debt payments and participating in the possible upside?

If in fact LOR & QCOM truly believe that G* is a valuable system that needs time to be tweeked to make it profitable, this to me seems like a better way to buy G* more time than just adding more money in May (if they choose to) or BKing the whole company.

What am I missing here?
