SeaChange keeps Q4 2000 earnings outlook unchanged

NEW YORK, Dec 27 (Reuters) - SeaChange International Inc. (NasdaqNM:SEAC - news), a maker of digital video systems, on Wednesday said it would not change previous guidance on stronger fourth-quarter results from the year-ago period.

The Maynard, Mass.-based company said it would report profits between $30 million and $32 million, or 5 cents a share, consistent with analysts' consensus estimates, according to research firm First Call/Thomson Financial.

SeaChange reported earnings of 2 cents a share in the same quarter a year earlier.

The company said previously it expects four major U.S. cable television operators to begin using its systems in the next two quarters, including Cablevision (NYSE:CVC - news) and Time Warner (NYSE:TWX - news), significantly boosting its revenues.

Shares of SeaChange were down $5-1/8, or more than 18 percent, at $23 in early afternoon trade on the Nasdaq. The stock has a 52-week range of $18-3/8 to $76.
