Marcos wrote a children's book -- the name of it escapes me -- that was scheduled to be published by a small Texas publisher last year. The publisher received an NEA grant. When the NEA learned Marcos was one of the authors on the publisher's list, the grant was killed. Just one more example of how the rightwing crusade against the arts has had an impact on culture in this country. In this case, a private foundation eventually stepped in and provided funding.
The point is, of course, that it is the rightwing that determines what is "politically correct." It's the country that suffers. M2
