Considering that Clinton/Gore/Bush are pushing for Son of Star Wars, I don't think either side has much to brag about with respect to restraint on spending. It's increased from 1.3 trillion to 1.9 trillion since 93, and no one dares put the collar on entitlements except with the diet COLAs. CPI just being a way of providing worthless pension supplements to the baby boomers.
