Is this any surprise to anyone? Not me. The bottom line is this. No one gives a chit whether or not Bush, Clinton, or Bart Simpson is in office if their wealth continues to grow, and Americans can continue to buy new houses, cars, go on vacations, ect.. Economies elect presidents, not credentials, nor character. If the economy is bad, the incumbent gets the boot. If the economy is good, the incumbent stays in office, regardless of the negative baggage he carries. In fact, he can have as many scandals as he pleases, including full use of the Lincoln room to celebrate them. Hence, the 65% approval rating for Clinton at the height of his scandralism. It's that simple, and that's the way it will always work. Bush will take the heat for the melt-down in 99, when we all know this was going to happen sooner than later. Only this time, it happened a little sooner, on Clinton's watch. But, 10 years from now, we all know it will never be remembered that way. Unfortunately, he will be used as the scape-goat for all this country's problems, before the man is even inaugurated.
