If QCT were, on the date of the spinoff, to be valued with the same P/E as Qualcomm proper, I'd sell all my shares in the former without thinking twice, and put the money into the latter. However, given how most analysts are currently expecting little to no W-CDMA ASIC market share, it's unlikely that this'll happen. In fact, I'll be surprised to see QCT initially trade at a P/E much higher than 40-45. This'll change the risk/reward dynamics considerably, especially when taking into account the value of Snaptrack and the MSP line, the potential competitive advantages offered by their ZIF technology, the possibility of rapidly rising ASPs as more advanced 2.5G/3G chipsets are released, and QCT's increasing clout in RF chipset production.
