It's sad that holocausts are still occurring today, whether in the Balkans or in Africa or anywhere else.

I would guess the amount ... whatever that amount might be ... would be similar to that donated to Balkan relief organizations by Americans of Serb, Croat, Albanian, et al lineage. If you have exact figures, please enlighten us all.

You missed the point regarding the excellent analysis of the Super Bowl-Atlanta flag furor. Let me try to explain it this way:
While on vacation in Ludington, Michigan, a few years ago, I noticed a well-kept cemetery right off the main drag into town. My son and I visited the cemetery one day on our way into town. We probably spent 20 minutes, in silence, walking among the graves beneath the towering trees.
One section of the cemetery was expecially impressive. Small American flags dotted the graves of perhaps 80 veterans of the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, World War I, and a few from the Second World War.
I wonder if the men who wore blue between 1861-65 would be pleased to know that some Southern states still proudly display the Stars and Bars (as part of their state flags ... or as separate flags) right beneath Old Glory.
I suspect more than a few brave men in blue would say, "What the hell did we shed blood for?"
It's time someone speaks up for the men who wore blue in the Civil War, and their descendents.
