I agree with Razorback - the scuba diving at Kona is excellent. I certified there in 93. There are underwater lava tubes you can explore if you are certified (watch out for sharks inside) and there is a national fish preserve near an offshore island called molokai, molokini, or something like that.

If there haven't been any recent storms underwater visibility can be up to a quarter mile. It's incredible.

Also recommend you look into the horseback riding at the stables south of the city. Very enjoyable.
