And if they don't "take hold"? What then?

The Fed has been pushing on a string here. Have you noticed the year to year growth in the money supply (specifically MZM and M3)? It's been massive...and still the market tanks. The 3 trillion or so that went up in flames in March-April and October to December left a huge smoking hole in the middle of the credit system. Cutting rates won't come close to filling it up. Rate cuts are just BubbleBoy's version of window dressing, used so that folks won't blame the coming debacle on him (but it won't work, he'll get blamed anyway).
