Fangorn: Agreed, there's lot's of room for expansion. But as you implied, at this point it means burying the hatchet(s), and working together for the common good of the species, as a species. And in this regard.....well.....I still see us squabbling like a bunch of 5 year olds with a bag of cookies and no teacher.

Or half sentient clothed monkeys with a paradisical planet to abuse with nary a guardian to restrain us.

Carolyn.....Civil War, eh? Hmmmm.....lot'sa different philosophies there. No question. Slavery vs Freedom is one. Industrial might vs agrarian philosophy another. Country vs City is yet another. That War was probably an amalgam of all three, and more. But since I cannot abide by the idea of calling another human being my property....well...call me a Yankee though I was born in Alabama. ;-)
