The cable companies so far are not offering any HDTV program because of insufficient bandwidth with their current circuits.

However, when

1. more and more content providers start to offer HDTV programs

2. the HDTV set price gets lower and lower

Customers will demand to shift to HDTV in a massive way. All the MSO will be forced to upgrade their equipment to provide HDTV.

This is the true killer applications for HLIT products, even more than the broadband Internet access and videocoference IMHO.
