This is another example of why I don't think too much of lockups. The release from lockup last year in JNPR didn't cause a flinch. In fact, quite the contrary, JNPR immediately started on a tear, nearly tripling in the next two months:

This sort of thing has been seen before, of course.
The take-home message, I think, is that lockups should never be used as the primary or even secondary basis for taking a short position. It might add something, but not much, and is most often either not worth considering, or downright misleading, particularly for a stock with a big float, a ton of interest, that is "in play."
