Just three easy famous ones off the top of my head:

Sears
Chrysler
Unisys

Hmmm...let's see: In late 1990, weren't all the big money-center banks like Citibank and Chase Manhattan supposed to be going out of business?

I can even make a case that just about any modern biotech stock would also meet the criteria.
