swap file note.... i, who know next to nothing about linux, just read that it loads on a minimum of two partitions.... a main partition and a swap partition. i recall some discussion here about the merits (or lack thereof) of creating a separate partition in windows for the swap file. looks like linux likes the concept. :) mark
