SDMC/MMC

"SDMC/MMC seem like they will be tough to beat in the handset race and with endorsements from Casio and Palm MMC has a distinct lead in the handheld PC arena. Here SmartMedia has no inroads."

I have yet to read any rational explanation of exactly how SDMC is going to work or what it is going to be used for. Especially when it comes to handsets. For what? To do what? What exactly is it that needs securing? All this just to listen to music on your cell phone. You must be kidding.

Here is a statistic that is just plain staggering! The number of people who are using the internet through wireless handsets number, not in the hundreds of millions, not in the tens of millions, not in the millions, not in the hundreds of thousands, not even in the tens of thousands, but yes actually in the thousands worldwide. Oh yea, this is the second coming alright!

And the number of folks using portable wireless PDA's to connect to the internet is almost as staggering in it's lack of magnitude.

So just what is SDMC OR MMC going to be used for exactly other than to listen to very expensive music for the very rich? (The rich now being the people who have been shorting high techs for the past 9 months.)

Does ANYONE have any idea other than a vague notion or wishful hope as to what exactly will these two cards be used for, that will make them ever so much in demand in the future? Specifically what?
