The southern tip of Lake Huron was skinned over with ice this morning, an event unheard of before February. Shipping lanes are still open and there is a freighter coming in from the center of the lake right now. He is moving very slow. Why? because as the lake gets shallow it has frozen. There is another freighter 3 miles offshore stuck in ice piled to above it's decks. Should be an interesting day to see how many freighters pile up offshore, unable to exit the lake.

edit: They are staying out of the channel now, running barely a mile offshore. Could actually see a person on the decks! Oddly the stuck freighter is full. All the others are totally empty, riding about 20 feet higher in the water.
