Reseller, thanks for your efforts.

Also have been checking a major supplier for discernable shortages (of which there are none)
and overstock conditions...seems to be minimal inventory, a little long on some,
a little low on others..the 64 meg CF is in ample supply...perhaps AMZN should call Ingram.

I find it hard to get a handle on inventory.
The fact that Amazon will have no product
for the forseeable future may indicate that
SanDisk is their direct supplier and Amazon
did not place a timely reorder. It could
also indicate that Viking is becoming their
primary supplier. I think the latter is the
least likely scenario.

Ingram has stock of CompactFlash as you mention,
but they also supply any number of Internet storefronts.
Thus, if Ingram had no stock available it would be
highly unlikely. I think inventories are all relative.
Factors may include how quickly restocking occurs, the
availability of CF from a SanDisk competitor, and
anticipated aftermarket demand (pre-ordering). As
Ingram has suffered from inventory going stale in the
past I suspect that they try to trim excesses unless
a particular item is really moving. Given the breadth
of the inventory they must have I would doubt they do
too much inventor micro-management.

What we really need is an idea of inventory turnover,
a more dynamic measure, than snapshots of inventory.
I guess I would be worried if inventory was high, but
don't know what to make of an average inventory level
(however that is defined).

What stuff on Ingram did you find flush and what did
you find thinly stocked?
