Yes and No.

Yes I have no clearcut idea what the device will be. That is why I have chosen QCOM as the primary investment vehicle into this space, with SNDK as a secondary choice. I expect the device(s) will need wireless access and subsequently will require removable storage.

No to "will it ever be?". No doubt in my mind. The only question is when, based on :

A) The carriers willingness to commit capital for the network upgrades.

B) The ability of individuals and businesses to develop the devices and content to utilize the advanced network capabilities. The demand is there now, IMO.

The economic backdrop, primarily in the US but certainly also the world, is probably the wild card for the above. I still see VC money targeted at the device and content areas. I have yet to see carriers delay network upgrades due to capital constraints. So far, so good!
