And a very Happy New Year to you, Pierre!

All the points you make about integrating the G* and Verizon offerings make sense to me. I think those features, or similar ones, will emerge once Vodafone is ready to actively market G*.

One point, probably an obvious one, about the data upgrade. It's not just for use with a car kit. It's also for use when hooking up the phone directly to a portable PC or handheld Palm-like device. So, when you're cruising Baja, if you want to upload or receive some data with your G* phone the phone will need to have the software that supports data. Maybe, you've already upgraded your phone. I wonder if the upgrade is necessary for SMS (sp?) short-text-messages? - I don't remember.

I just got back from the grocery, stocking up for four days at home if need be. A Nor'easter is forecast for this w/e with about a foot of snow. The snow is supposed to start falling early tomorrow afternoon and continue into Sunday morning. I'll probably be out and about tomorrow morning, but am prepared if the snow is early. Baja this ain't. Once my car kit is installed, it will be easier (or at least more comfortable) to call for roadside help if my car gets stuck in a drift.

May you and all others on this thread enjoy a safe, joyous, festive and memorable (in a good way) 01/01/01!

PS. While I've been typing this message, someone bought 2,000,000 shares of GSTRF at the price of 31/32. That may prove a memorable end to his/her/their year, one way or another.
