DO, I don't think these bloated yesterday stocks are the best way to play a tech bounce. AMAT is the only one with a true competitive edge in a long term fast growth, if cyclical, business, IMHO. NT has almost always been a weak sister and has only recently been hailed as some sort of corporate titan. My guess is that they soon return to weak sister status. Sun has some good stable businesses, but I don't see huge growth in them after the bubble.
Why not buy a tech bounce with deeply discounted funds selling at less than their cash value? True, the names they hold are kind of scary, but with over $2 in cash, DVIN has to be of interest here. Also, they are now moving into better quality cos., like some that may survive. <g> Ditto for MVC. FND is much larger firms and has less cash, but at a 45% discount to net asset value, it is worth getting the fish eye for bargain hunters. |
