Mike: It is the potential breadth of the Q's value chain which will be most important IMO.

The focus has been on voice and means of supporting the Q's voice usage.

That is about to change in 2001/2.

The focus will be on the data element of the Q's value chain. (And "data" includes music, photos, video, etc.)

Phones are just the most obvious use. PDA's are next obvious. When we are using CDMA wireless connections in our laptops (CDMA requires no modem), that will be another.

When we routinely use CDMA wireless on our destop and connect widgets surrounding the computer on our desk with Bluetooth imbedded in the Q's licensed (and SpinCo made) chipsets that is another.

When our automobiles use location technology as a part of the overall set of "stuff" in the automobile which is again produced by Qualcomm at base, that is another.

And on and on. (Such uses as digital movie delivery, satellite data using CDMA, etc.)

This is why the "network" presentation on Qualcomm cries out for someone here to undertake. It is sad that so far no one has stepped up to the plate re: networking on a company so broadly owned by GG'ers.

Best.
