Well call me crazy; it won't be the first time <lol>. AT&T has made a series of bad calls in recent years, and the "halo effect" hasn't done a thing for their shareholders over the past 5 years, as witnessed by their chart:

My feeling is their decision to go gsm wasn't based on technology considerations at all; it was all about the trillion yen they could get by playing ball with Docomo. Without that cash infusion, AWE was dead meat. They really had no choice.
