To me, having UMTS come out a year earlier is more significant and better for us in the long run, than a few carriers snubbing CDMA2000.

If I had to choose amongst having a few carriers defect, versus having a great number of wCDMA networks installed a year sooner, I'll take the latter, no question.

I think we were all hoping for a CDMA2000 slam dunk - I never fully expected THAT to happen...too many vendors, too many carriers, too much money behind wCDMA.

Of course, I never expected a wCDMA slam dunk either...

Still, please don't hoist the white flag and cry uncle. 2001 is gonna be fun but 2002 is gonna rock.

Factoid: Nortel alone has announced 1.8 billion dollars in 3G umts contracts.
