Mark,

I do network I/O validation for Intel processor based servers. All of
my knowledge of RMBS is from public available sources.

The fact is current DRAM technology is near its end of life. The
RAM I bought in 92 for my 486 is 60ns and it has not changed
(just larger capacity chips and EDO).

Currently there are 3+ possible RAM technologies that could be a
factor around year 2000. Double data rate DRAM is essentially
SDRAM x 2 but has limitation going faster. Synclink DRAM is
somewhat similar to RDRAM. The standard is suppose to come out
next year that rival the speed of RDRAM. MoSys is working on
yet another kind called MDRAM (they are also collaborating with
RMBS).

The advantage that RDRAM has is proven technology and products.
Currently used in Nintendo64, SGI's graphic hardware and this is
one of the most important reason Intel announces the intention to
work with RMBS to incorporate RDRAM in PC.
EE Times estimate (right or wrong) that RDRAM can command 15
billion market, which means that even without any fab, RMBS can
collect ~300mil royalty (~2%) and that is ~15$/share.

RMBS is a risky investment but the prospect of return matches the
risk. As a matter of fact if there is a good investment on SyncLink
DRAM, I might go for it too to cover all bases.
