Good info, Calypso, thanks.

Please pardon my paranoia, though. Such a site, if they do exactly what they claim, and no more, will provide confirmation to the spammer that my address is valid and used. If they go beyond what they say, it also would permit gathering a new address list to be sold. The new list would have some considerable demographic value, not only as a valid address list, but with the added value that the add'ee was someone interested in privacy, lack of garbage in the inbox, etc. It also probably would reveal the other add'ees on the "undisclosed recipients" in the "TO" block of the spam's email header.

I'm paranoid enough about this stuff to be cautious about anyone who wants to "help" me for free. For example, what better way to spread a virus than to offer "free anti-virus software?"

Again, I appreciate you posting it here, Calypso, and please don't misinterpret my cynicism as a lack of gratitude.
