Based on what I see, they report the spam to the abuse address or postmaster address of the domain, not the spammer itself. In their FAQ, they specifically say never to respond to the unsubscribe option unless you're sure it's a legitimate organzation.

Why do you think they're confirming your address to the spammer?

Here's a sample of what I see at the end of a processed spam e-mail:
