On the other hand how much would it cost for a similar apartment in Bombay? or Shanghai how about price of food?

Available money to spend is a relative issue and I can argue that a Fiat needs about the same energy to get powered as a similar BMW but provides the same economic efficiency in the country it is used, at half the price. So who will more benefit from lower energy prices as disposable income? in %?

To be able to really grasp the influence of energy cost on world economies the best is to compare use of electricity per capita and it's cost.

As to taxes guess what I am taxed on my Internet, Cable , TV and telephone by NYS and Federal Taxes it is all relative <GG>

As to your comments you are right but looking trough the back mirror US is saturated the growth will come from Asia with 25 times more people than the US.

So to compare is their middle-upper class to US population.

I think people are to US focussed as a result that the US is one of the noisiest nations internationaly. Wen was the last time you heard about Sweden,Belgium, Holland, Danemark, Switzerland on economic news? Their GPD/capita is quite nice.
