EL - I still believe that no serious Wall St analyst believed that there would be a major defection to cdma2000 from w-cdma in the US. They might have speculated but such a move would involve a massive upheaval for AWE and Cingular and even ignoring the unfriendly tone of statements from the chief tech officer of AWE and the actions of Cingular it would have been incredible to beleive that it would happen. AS regards time scale I would have though a minimum of six months if not nine months. But I may be too pesimistic given the urgency of the situation and the evident very closed co-operation going on between the equipment manufacturers, Q and the SPs. Didn't we see news of a trial by Q and Verizon of a full 3G QCOM system. I got the impresssion that Verizon might even be preparing to skip the 1X stage, just my impression. Best regards, L
