These things are monumental.

Oh, I absolutely agree that these restructurings are vital.

But unfortunately, it will require years before the effects begin to be truly felt.

That's how it went for the US back in the early '80s.

I'm not totally anti-Euro(pe)... Long-term they will figure out how to make it all work due to sheer necessity of being able to compete with the US economy. But there should be plenty of turmoil to accompany the trasition.

It will be similar to the problems the US will endure as it tries to integrate the economies of Latin America in an American trading bloc (which I believe Bush will attempt to encourage).
