Glenn, no argument from me on that. But, when will those elusive profits come?

This is a good point. The average residential user does not want to pay the $50/month for broadband. I do not believe they understand the lack of need for a second phone line and they do not have to pay again for an ISP. I see the $50 costing them about $10 more per month than their current dial-up. Personally, I believe $50/month is too low for those profits.

The other side of the coin is most providers are gauging businesses in my mind. For the same residentital serve, they want $140/month in my area for business use. I am not fond of that either. A lot of small businesses won't pay it so now the infrastructure is in place but not enough subscribers.

I am sure these firms have done studies on this so my thoughts are likely incorrect. I see a straight $75/month both for business and residential as a way to get profit. Now the question remains if the residential user is not willing to pay $50 per month how do we get them to pay $75 per month? The answer is we educate them better. The stores selling computers and other electronics in this area have computers on display to sell the computers. Why not have then connected to the net and connected using broadband? The provider can do this has a no charge to the retailer as long as the use is for demonstration purposes. Most people never experience broadband in this area.
