CR - Your urgent consideration pls.

Win lose or draw this W-cdma/cdma2000 issue isn't going away plus there is the European roaming issue for any carrier going with cdma2000.

Is it possible to produce a chip or a handset that can detect which environment it is in and then automatically switch to either cdma2000 or w-cdma. Or is it possible to produce a handset with both chips built in but with an additional device that does the detecting and then turns on the appropriate chip.

Today I have Euro GSM handset ( Motorola TriBand) which I manually change to the correct frequencey when I travel between Europe and the US. Most people who do this kindof travlling have this kind of phone and it is perfectly acceptable ( apart from the Europena SP roaming charges!!).

I believe that we have seen straws in the wind about the Qs psssible development of such a device/chip but if it were available it would end a great deal of uncertainty.

Best regards and Happy New Year,

L
