Mike,
Thanks for your input.
This discussion started when TMH said he didn't understand why I was surprised over wcdma being available as soon as it apparently is. IJ has stated 2003 or later.
So I'm surprised, and pleasantly at that, because I and many others thought wcdma wouldn't be here til 2003, 2004, even 2005. Aside from DoCoMo, we've got vendors and carriers announcing letters of intention/contracts for wcdma networks as early as the end of 2001.
So, to reiterate, I'm PLEASANTLY surprised that wcdma is here sooner, and Q's revenues will ramp up sooner. This is great news. How could it not be?
I merely felt I was blindsided because the mental picture I had formed over the last 12 months about truth and reality with Q's preferred/2nd choice cdma flavor turned out flat wrong. I fault myself. I do not like when an outcome turns out to be the opposite of my expectations, especially when I keep my eye on the situation almost daily.
As you mentioned, the great thing about our investment in Q is no matter which flavor wins out, Q wins. BUT, and you have to admit, we'd all prefer a CDMA2000 centric world. CDMA2000 is more certain for Q on the asic side.
Since that doesn't seem to be the case, I'm 'slightly' disappointed. Why? Because I wanted it ALL.
:o)
