If Greenspan wants to deal with "W" he will get a rate cut in before inauguration day to (1) give "W" a helping hand and (2) give "W" a reason to moderate the tax cut. Remember AG is a Republican with ties to that party and he is for tax relief and tax equity as well. He also believes rates are too high especially at the top and the bottom(especially when you add FICA). He also is strongly against the marriage penalty and for death tax reform. What he would argue to Bush is to moderate the tax program for now while interest rates are being reduced and get the tax reform he is looking for over the span of an 8 year Bush presidency, not in a first year trillion dollar deal. A "W"-AG deal of this type would get the markets moving. Trade those huge tax cuts now for big market gains is a no-brainer.
