Dear TideGlider: I didnt know that. I was in the earlier part of the 60's. Incidentally, I was in platoon 105 of 1st Battallion. We won more honors then any other platoon in the history of the island. We wrote a song, I understand it is still being sung. Did you hear of it? We also got as a reward a Panty Raid on the WAMS barracks. Song starts out as follows:
You can have your Army Khakis, you can have your Navy Blues,
There is another fighting man I'll introduce to you,
His uniform is spotless, the best you've ever seen,
The Germans called him "Devil Dog", his real name is Marine. JDN
