100 Mbps Fiber to the Home for $10/mo -northern Sweden

[Bill St. Arnaud comments: Here is a fascinating story about some entrepreneurial Swedes who built a
100 Mbps Internet network for about 60 homes in a neighbourhood in Northern
Sweden. It just goes to show that high speed networks don't necessarily
have to be built by large telephone or cable companies. In fact I predict
that Gigabit to the Home, particularly in rural -remote areas, will probably
be deployed the same way that the original cable systems were built - by
small entrepreneurial organizations. National programs that stimulate
broadband to the home I think will create a whole new industry of such
businesses - BSA]

[Thanks to Samuel Lam for this story]
You are welcome to visit the page where I describe the
hardware we built in my block here in Northern
Sweden.
In short: we have a 100 Mbps multimode-fibre network
to all bungalows and a 100 Mbps singlemode-uplink to
the city's largest ISP and a bunch of other cables to
each house...

There are pictures of excavators, fibreswitches etc.
Quite nice, actually ;)
