What makes you think the wasteful spending stopped in the 80's?

ted

Nothing. Government waste is almost impossible to get rid of. However the specific examples you provided were very old. I do believe that some effort was put in to eliminateing the most rediculous overcharges such as the ones you quoted. I still imagine however it would be quite possible to find common items sold to the military for a big markup, it just might be hard to find %5000 markups.

BTW I'll repeat the question.

Would you argue against any increase for social programs (both entitlements and social programs that fall under "discresionary spending") until all waste is eliminated?
