Dwight,

My two favorite direct vendors are:

NECX at necx.com and CDW at cdw.com

Both of these vendors have very good prices and fast delivery. Overall, I think NECX maybe slightly cheaper although they do seem to be very aware of each others prices. NEXC has extremely cheap shipping charges and since they have distribution centers all over the country, they can usually get you what you want in two days at normal shipping rates. Something like a modem or disk drive costs about $5 to ship. I just bought a Tecra 510 notebook and shipping was $11 and I got it in two days.

Both also have excellent service and provide no hassel returns. I have returned items to both places simply because I didn't like them. All I lost was the shipping.

I will be ordering a Seagate external tape drive and a USRX PCMCIA 56K modem from NECX this week. The PCMCIA modems started shipping on the 23rd of May and are suppose to hit the stores this week. Both NECX and CDW show them in their catalogs. I spoke with CDW on Friday and they said they have 205 on order of which 170 have already been sold.

I encourage anyone and everyone to look into these vendors for future purchases.
