London, Jan. 3 (Bloomberg) -- ARM Holdings Plc, Europe's biggest designer of microprocessors, will benefit from increased royalties as Intel Corp. boosts its line of consumer gadgets, the Independent said.

ARM will receive payment for every product sold that incorporates its technology. Intel, the world's biggest computer- chipmaker, is introducing a portable digital-audio player and Internet appliances, the paper said.

ARM computer software enables companies such as Nokia Oyj, Intel Corp. and Sony Corp. to develop computer chips that make low- power devices such as handheld computers operate faster and cheaper than otherwise possible. Its technology goes into more than 80 percent of all mobile phones.

The products will be based on Intel-made processors, but use ARM's ``chip architecture,'' the paper reported.
