Because of my relationship with Matt Simmons, I have been asked by a couple of the SD gang about his new Jordan-Simmons Global Energy Fund. I checked with Matt and found out a little more.

Matt has known Jerry Jordan for 35 years and considers him to be one of the legendary investors of our time. Together, they have created a sector fund which will be totally invested in energy, but not at the risk of 'intentionally' losing money just to be fully invested.

It will also use commodity contracts as a far more efficient way to invest when the view is that energy prices are likely to change rather than trying to find equity investments as a proxy for the same view.

The fund began on November 1, 2000 and now has about $50 million under management. The first two months performance is around +20%. Most of initial investment came from principals of the two firms.

The fund is not aimed to individual investors but they will take money from 'friends'. Minimum investment is $2 million ($5 million for institutions).

That rules out everyone here except for Slider and Sarge...

If anyone would like to learn more, shoot me a PM.
