I have a different spin on Dr. Greenspan. He is a miserable racist and class-centric. He did not target the Naz--he targeted the notion that the "middle class"--the people-- were finally acquiring wealth. Their dreams were beginning to come true, just as has been the case for the rich for many years. Greenspan and his cronies called the acquisition of wealth by the people a public policy problem, rather than a laudable objective of public policy. The rich were upset that they were g0oing to have to share. It was also upsetting that minorities were finally fully employed. Although that should be a goal of public policy, Greenspan perceived it as a negative. His cronies have always been in Philip Morris and Citigroup. He intended to wipe out others--and did so. He has no shame.
