olu, i thought my post was clear. a massive proportional tax cut will keep interest rates higher than they would be otherwise.

this means:

higher mortgage rates, higher rental rates, higher car payments, higher credit card bills, etc. this will more than wipe out any minimal tax cut joe 6 pack will take home.

now, bill gates and steve forbes types don't need a mortgage, they don't have a car payment, etc... you get the picture.

shoulkd rich people pay a higher % of their income as taxes? yes. is it fair? absolutely.

like it or not, a great deal of one's success is do to factors beyond their control (did they pick their parents well, did they happen to live in the right neighborhood, live at the right time, etc.). sure, successful people tend to work hard (not all, by any means). i know a lot of folks making $10-$14/hr who work EXTREMELY hard at their job (sometimes 2 and 3 jobs) while going to school.

this, i'm rich b/c i work hard is nonsense. folks tend to be rich b/c they work hard and are extremely fortunate.

roads are worth more to a person pulling in a half million a year than an a guy making $6/hr. lose the road and one loses $500k and the other $12k. since the road is worth more, much more, the rich guy should pay more for it.

btw, i'm not poor. i'm not trying to take from somebody. i GUARANTEE i pay more in taxes than average and receive less than average benefits. the more i make, the higher percentage i should pay. the tax rates now are reasonable.

i do not see why taxes s/b lowered so bill gates and steve forbes can add "00" to their bank account (the sum total marginal improvement to the quality of their life) when children in this country can't eat.

of course, the govt has a responsibility to use the resources responsibily - although they never will.

olu, unless you are super rich, the rich are robbing you and you are, in effect, saying "thank you" and defending them.

UNREAL!
