The key difference here is that you have a “full-blown” access product implemented. Many home-based users will not go to this extent due to the cost associated with them and the cards. Even, business’s whine and moan ;) and the quality your using is certainly not that of a radio shack special. If you want increased coverage purchase an 11dbi omni, hang it upside down(easy to mount in a corner) and I'm willing to bet your signal strength goes through the roof and the speeds increase. Quiet honestly you actually require more signal strength then the manufacture list to achieve higher speeds. You are fortunate that the DSSS is viable because of the close proximity of the units. Otherwise its as good as how far you could through it. Constant monitoring of the channels/collocating and fixed beam widths do make FHSS a superior solution.
Don't be turning green on me now ;-)
